Its been a week since we arrived in sunny Monterrey. Believe it or not its the first time I’ve cut & bumped myself for “X” number of times and its a little surprising that I’m rather clumsy here. (pray for me?)
Ive learnt several important spanish words – grocery shopping, directions and how to say STOP! (ALTO!) Its kinda fun yet in the challenging sorta way. Students speak English but mostly Spanish – interesting because two people can improve another language in just seconds.
Couch Surfing is darn cool! We bunked on Victor’s couch here in Monterrey when we arrived. His friend Estella was also there to pick us up. From there we were became Couch Surfers converts!
Classes started today and it was great fun. My professor in my Comunicación Internacional class was one of a kind! – cussing and swearing (not too often) about the things he doesn’t believe in. id forgive him for being late when he quoted Oscar Wilde – “Life is too important to be taken seriously“. I may agree with him on things like rationality but regarding the certainty of this world and how we generalise things; I have my own views.
Ever since I was here, everyday was a fruitful day. The hot weather keeps things tight and Ive never had a sleepless night. Too tired to even try to fall asleep – cos I just plop on the bed and sleep! =) Cerveza, partying and MORE gatherings to kick start semester!
Im thankful that I have a really nice roomie, Claressa and very helpful housemate, Carlos Siordia! Both made my stay in our little apartment in Tecnicos, Filosofos such a wonderful one. Not forgetting Terence & Melyvn who were my constant pokes of laughter – made life so much safer (or they are always looking out for the klutzy me) and so much fun!
Thanks to my all my extremely helpful Mexcian friends – Victor, Estella, Carlos, Sergio, Evelin, Monica etc… (the list is growing!) To Carlos for accompanying me to get my textbook, Sergio for getting me my apartment, Evelin for introducing Sergio and such a sweet friend!, Monica for being so fun and lovely like my other close mexican friend!
My heat rash is healing or rather going away – trying to keep indoors for now like hiding in the Biblioteca (library) or staying in classes. Tuesdays and Thurdays are my LONG days – I have cuarto classes on both days and I start from 8.30am to 730pm. Sigh~

I just heard from my sister that my grandpapa is not doing too well – he might just go before I came back. I dunno how to deal with it should the time come. But I know there are shoulders for me to cry on here in Monterrey. Dear Lord, if you have to take my gong gong away, I hope its a painless one. Amen. Maybe its a good thing that God took away Chip when I was still around – least I was there till his last breath.
Here is Westlife’s Lyrics to make me feel better
Cause when it all gets too much
Put your head down on my shoulder
A little warmth when it gets colder
Now I don’t know the things
that you’re going through
But you can put your head down
On my shoulder
Where the storm till it blows over
I know you’re there for me too
No I’ll be there for you
